One Word.....

ENGAGED!

So as many of you know, this has been a long time coming. I actually expected it to come a lot sooner than it did. There were just a few issues with getting the ring, so it took longer than I expected. Finally, Jake was able to pay for the ring. I expected it to take a day or less to set the diamond..... Boy was I wrong.

Jake didn't want me to think that it was coming soon when it wasn't, so he warned me that it was going to take two weeks to set the diamond. I didn't believe him at all. I thought he was tricking me so that the proposal would be a surprise. He didn't want to let me down, so he showed me the slip of paper that said to pick up the ring on September 21. I was super bummed. I didn't want to wait that long.

So Saturday, September 18th came. Jake came over and hung out with me all day. We just watched football and built a sweet fort. He had told me earlier that he had to take his mom to the doctor at three and he would be back soon. I didn't think anything of it because it seemed logical.

Evidence that it was, in deed, a sweet fort.

So Saturday night we had plans to hang out at Lachel's cousin's house. She had told me earlier in the week that her cousin moved into a new house in Draper and that she thought Lachel should bring some friends over because they have a really nice game room. I was totally down to do that and it seemed legit because Lachel is way tight with her cousin.

At about 7 Jake and I were just chilling at my house, waiting for Lachel to tell us how to get to her "cousin's house." Jake started acting a little antsy to get going. I found this odd because he's normally just relaxed. I was getting a little frustrated because I was wondering why he wasn't content just hanging with me. He usually likes our alone time, so it kind of bugged me that he was obsessed with hanging with our friends.

Lachel called and started giving me directions to the house and I handed the phone to Jake because I'm bad with directions. I could still hear her though and she was giving actual directions, so I still thought that we were going to her cousin's house.
On the way, I kept asking him why he was so obsessed with hanging out with them and why he had been texting Lachel all day. Not going to lie, I was being a little ridiculous. I'm not usually the jealous type, so I don't know what got into me.

We started heading up the hill in Draper towards the temple and I was still grilling Jake about him acting weird. I think he was about to spill the beans because he just started laughing. I told him that it wasn't a time to be laughing. Then he spits out, "Want a piece of gum?" Keep in mind, he had just given me one about ten minutes prior. I think he was just super nervous. I still had no idea what was coming though.

We got a little lost on the way up. Jake bet me that we had already passed the Draper temple and I was saying that we hadn't. We turned around and spotted it, so of course I lost. We pulled into a neighborhood where I assumed the house was. As I was just complaining about the huge bet I had just lost he pulled up to a road blocked off by barricades. On the barricades was a beautiful table cloth with candles, Cafe Rio, and Diet DP. I asked him, "What's this?" and he told me it was just a date that he planned. At this point, I was thinking he might propose, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. There was a card with my name on it, so I went to read it. It said, "Turn around" and when I did, Jake was on one knee with the ring in his hand. He asked if I would marry him. I said yes and we just hugged. I was so giddy that I just kept jumping up and down. We had a wonderful time. We ate a little food then slow danced to one of our songs. It was absolutely perfect! I can't even imagine anything better.

Apparently, he begged them to get the ring early because he has some connections at Shane Co. Lachel, Sam, and Jake were just scheming away all week without my knowledge. I'm so glad they went through all the trouble because it was perfect.

When we came to show Jake's parents, his littlest brother didn't seem to know what was going on. He finally picked up on it and we had this conversation when Jake wasn't in the room.

Zak: "Wait, you're engaged?"
Me: "YEAH, I am!"
Zak: "To who?"
Me: "Jake!"
Zak: "YEAH YEAH YEAH! I'm so excited!"

Later he exclaimed while holding up a sword, "Hurrah for engagements!"

I'm back, dunananananana!

So I haven't blogged in months and I decided I want to start up again. I apologize for the reference to an Eminem song in my subject, obviously I work with kids everyday who have an unhealthy obsession with rap music that I pay the price for. Anyway, I think I shall play catch up by highlighting the last few blogless months.

First and most importantly, my love came home from his mission on June 25th.
(Look, he's touching me a little and this is the night he got home.)
We have pretty much been attached at the hip since then. He was definitely worth the wait.

Before he got home I went to Hawaii. It was soooo amazing! I want to go back way bad. It was beautiful and it was a trip that I won't forget.

I talked my mom into letting my bring Kaelyn. Best. Decision. Ever. This is us getting ready to snorkel. I loved it!

This was the view from our condo. I loved waking up at six every morning to this.

This is us on our 26 mile bike ride! Pretty BA, eh? I should probably mention that it was all downhill.

Zip-lining Baby!

To top it off, I got to hang with the coolest niece and nephew ever!
Gosh, I miss that place!

My nephew Sam was born and I must say that he is the most beautiful baby!

My big brother got married.

I got an iPhone!

I worked a lot with the best kids ever! Getting paid to play
all day is definitely my thing
I think he's in love with her.

Gotta love him

And I had a lot of fun with the best people I know
